Established in 2013, our client is a successful and well-respected consultancy firm who provide bookkeeping & financial controller services tailored to suit their client’s individual business needs. The work is interesting and challenging with their clients coming from a variety of projects and industry sectors and both local and international businesses.

With the business expanding, an opportunity has presented itself for an Accountant/Bookkeeper to join the team on a full-time basis. This position is very much a hands-on role and requires well developed consultative skills and the ability to communicate with clients at a high level. A function of the role is to provide support to the Director, so we are seeking applicants who have proven leadership skills and who are able to manage workflow within a team. The successful candidate will relish the opportunity to build strong client connections, be a lateral thinker who can provide solutions and who thrives in a fast paced, varied environment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the day-to-day operation for clients, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliation, fixed asset register and payroll processing;
  • Preparation of budgets and rolling forecasts;
  • Ensuring that all statutory requirements (ie BAS/IAS/Payroll Tax/Superannuation) are lodged in a timely manner;
  • Consulting with clients and providing advice and recommendations;
  • Correspondence with clients to improve accuracy and efficiency of data;
  • Month End processing (ie depreciation, prepayments, accruals);
  • Preparation and analysis of monthly financial reports (i.e. Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement, Variance Analysis);
  • Providing ad hoc reports and further analysis as required by the clients;
  • Liaison with clients’ auditors to finalise yearend financial statement reporting;
  • Managing workflow within the team.

Skills and experience required:

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce or Accounting;
  • Expertise in computer skills particularly in MS Office Suite and accounting software (Xero preferably);
  • Exceptional consultative skills;
  • Proven leadership skills;
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Outstanding time management and organisational skills;
  • Proven ability to think laterally and provide solutions;
  • Passion for customer service and client satisfaction;
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously.
