The role:

We are currently recruiting for an Accounts Officer to join the team in their small regional office in Strathalbyn. This role is responsible for facilitating the Firm’s financial information, processing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling general ledgers and preparing financial statements. You will be in charge of processing client billing, closing out each month, tax preparation and assisting with the financial year end. The role also includes reception duties and general legal administrative tasks as required – you ensure the office runs smoothly & efficiently.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Accounts Payable and Receivable;
  • Managing the trust and trust transactions;
  • Preparation of budgets;
  • Monitoring expenditure and profits and providing reports to the Managing Partner;
  • Reception duties including answering and allocating phone calls, greeting visitors on arrival, coordinating conference & meeting rooms, client liaison and follow-up as well as photocopying, filing & stock ordering;
  • Administrative duties including assisting with file management, drafting of briefs and other documents and correspondence;
  • Record keeping for client matters;
  • Any other administrative support to the legal team as required.

Skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar accounts and administrative position;
  • Previous experience in a corporate environment;
  • High level computer skills (MS Office suite & accounting software);
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills;
  • High level customer service skills;
  • Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost integrity and discretion;
  • Strong work ethic and shows initiative;
  • Excellent time management and organization skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Able to work as part of a team as well as autonomously.
